Two
Lakes Lodge
Snowmobile Info
The Lodge is located on a pair of lakes in the White Mountain National Forest that provide a great place for kids or novice riders to practice their riding before heading out on the trails. There is a large lawn leading down to the lake which provides plenty of room for parking sleds in between rides.
The owners of Two Lakes Lodge are avid snowmobilers and built many features into the Lodge to accommodate the specific needs of snowmobilers. The lower level of the Lodge features a garage that doubles as a mudroom and gear storage area. This area features two large open closets for hanging gear with storage shelves for helmets over the hanging space and racks for boot storage under the hanging space.
After removing your gear, you head into the game room where a pellet stove provides a great place to warm up. There is also counter space and a vinyl cover over the pool table where wet gear can be stored to dry out.
Two Lakes Lodge is located is the heart of some of the best snowmobiling in Coos County. The Lodge borders several large tracts of undeveloped land. To the south is the White Mountain National Forest, to the southeast is Jericho Mountain State Park, to the northwest is the Nash Stream State Forest and to the northeast is the Phillips Brook Recreation Area. All of the surrounding area is located within a reliable snow belt and usually has riding from late December into the beginning of March even in the lowest snow years. The Lodge is located 1/4 mile from Primary Trail 109 via a 12' wide ungroomed access trail.
Heading south on PT109 brings you into the Berlin trail system (www.whitemtridgerunners.com) with adjourning access to the Gorham trail system, Jefferson trail system (www.waumbekmethna.com) and the Twin Mountain trail system (www.twinmtnsnowmobile.org).
Heading north on PT109 brings you to the Groveton trail system (www.grovetontrailblazers.com) with adjourning access to the Stratford trail system (www.stratfordnighthawks.com), the Colebrook trail system (www.colebrookski-bees.com) and the Errol trail system (www.umbagogsnowmobile.com). All of these clubs run medium or large size groomers pulling 9' to 10' wide drags and do an excellent job in maintaining their trails.
Jefferson and Twin Mountain
In addition to great trails, riders have
access to gas and restaurant services in all of these trail systems.
Heading southwest, you can reach Jefferson and Twin Mountain services via PT109S
then Corridor 11S (about 30 miles).
Both of these towns have multiple gas stations and restaurants.
The Jefferson trails offers some of the best views of Mt. Washington. Twin Mountain trails include an unplowed road called Jefferson Notch Road which offers a great ride and some really scenic views alongside of a river.
Gorham
Heading southeast, you can reach Gorham services via PT109S then Corridor 11N and then Corridor 19S
(about 30 miles). Gorham allows snowmobiles to travel
along their sidewalks to reach their gas stations and restaurants (which include
many fast food chains).
Taking Corridor 12N from Gorham, you will cross over Rt. 16 and the Androscoggin River over an old RR trestle. When you reach the other side, look for the next trail junction which branches to the right and will take you up to the top of a hill overlooking Gorham with some spectacular views of the presidential range.
Berlin
Heading east, you can reach Berlin services via PT109S, then Corridor 11N, then
Corridor 19N and then the Berlin Trail (about 25 miles). The Berlin trail
takes you into downtown Berlin, where gas and one restaurant is easily
accessible.
The best views in the area are in Jericho Mountain State Park. Take PT109S to Corridor 11N and then Corridor 19S. At the second junction, follow the trail to Mt. Forest to look straight over a cliff, 1000 feet down to the city of Berlin. This is one of the best views in the area by day or by night. Continue following Corridor 19S to the third junction and take Camp Loop trail to the Scenic View Trail. This view gives a great panoramic view of the mountains to the north with Jericho Lake in the foreground.
Groveton
Heading northwest, there is self-serve gas available at the head of Nash Stream
State Forest (about 12 miles) via PT109N then PT117W.
From there, you can take Corridor 5N which follows Nash Stream Road (an unplowed road) that borders Nash Stream providing many picturesque views. Another great stop is the Pond Brook Falls about 7 miles from the start of Nash Stream Road. There is a small parking area on the east side of the road. just south of the junction with the North Bridge trail. From there you walk in about 300 yards following a small trail. This brings you to some falls that are always ice covered and make a great backdrop for pictures.
There are no restaurants in Groveton, but we recommend that you stop by the Blueberry Hill Inn in Stratford (about 35 miles) (www.blueberryhillinncafe.com). They have limited serving hours (check their website for details), but their food is great. To reach them, take Corridor 5N to West Side Trail (N) to Corridor 7N to Corridor 3 and then follow the signs.
Errol
Heading northeast, there is gas and food available in Errol (about 40 miles) via
PT109N, then PT117E, then Corridor 19N then follow the signs to Errol center.
The best view in the area is from the top of Dixville Peak which is off of
PT110. due northwest of Errol center.
Sled rentals are available at Jericho Motorsports, located 12 miles away by car. For multi-day rentals, they will deliver and pick up the sleds at the Lodge. They provide helmets with each sled rental. Operators must have a drivers license. As for Randy and tell him Larry and Kate sent you. He will treat you right! To reach Jericho Motorsport, take Rt. 110 east 12 miles and look for their sign on the left, just after the highway speed limit drops to 40mph.
Two Lakes Lodge can best be summed up as snowmobile heaven. With first-class accommodations, lakes to play on, perfectly groomed trails outside your door and dozens of destinations within an easy days' ride, it provides a combination that cannot be beat.
During your down time, you have all the comforts of home and lots of indoor activities to keep the kids occupied. We hope you will explore the rest of our website so you can plan your winter vacation.
